Reading Research

Imagine what a good reading program can do for your child.

Reading needs good instruction.  When a child or adult struggles with reading and learning, part of the brain is under activated. Reading well requires proper neurological wiring.  While trying to read children compensate by guessing, looking at pictures, over memorizing or pretending they are reading(usually afraid to read aloud).  Sometimes parents decide to wait and see how their child will perform given more time.

The best programs strengthen the brain's ability for linking combinations of letters to the sounds they represent.  Fortunately the brain is receptive to instruction.  Some studies even suggest that when it is provided early enough the brain is rewired so thoroughly that the neurological pathways are greatly strengthened.

Recently published research has proven that a good reading program uses sound to activate and strengthen the brain's neural pathways for reading. The most successful programs focus on phonological (sound) awareness, sound manipulation, vocabulary building, improving comprehension and reading fluency.

There is evidence through functional magnetic resonance imaging, ƒ(MRI), that sound based reading exercises can also increase the reading skills of adults. Imagine what a good reading program can do for an adult.
